One of the best things in life was to give up smoking. In 1981 I was going to be a dad, the first child of three. I decided that if I gave up smoking I could afford to get a camera. Lenses and accessories came soon after with my collection of bits growing quickly. I read many books, learning the ins and outs of this fascinating hobby. I took it rather seriously, doing weddings and portraits. I only ever charged for the cost of film and printing. I classed myself as a total amateur, not worthy of charging for my services, it was a hobby and nothing more.

After three children and rolls and rolls of film other things in life became more of a priority. In the last couple of years my love for photography has rekindled, the improvement in digital cameras has meant that taking photos can be done really cheap. Lets face it, add up all the cameras in your house and it will surprise you. Nearly all mobile phones have fairly decent cameras. You can take dozens of photos and it does not cost you a penny to see them unlike the old way of developing and printing.

My camera bag of old and shiny aluminium case holds all my old stuff and although cost a small fortune to buy, now it’s worth pennies. It was time to buy a new camera, one that would last me forever. I can go away for the day and just snap at the things in life that I now enjoy. These are Canals, Narrow boats, The open landscapes and countryside. I also enjoy just sitting and watching the world go by, a people watcher. I would like to take more photos of people going about their every day life, I don’t want to invade in their privacy and tend to not photograph people directly.

This site is designed to share some of my photos with anyone who wants to take a look. I do not think I am a professional and I take my fair share of rubbish images, I just delete them, I am just doing what I enjoy.
